The Department of English and General Linguistics at University of Lodz announces the Sixth International Conference on Philosophy of Language and Linguistics, PhiLang2019. As in previous years, the principal aim of our Conference is to bring together philosophers, linguists, logicians as well as researchers interested in argumentation, philosophy of literature, and philosophy of mind. This year the key topics will include the following:
Philosophical foundations of semantics and pragmatics
Names in fiction
Denial and negation
The Lvov-Warsaw School and contemporary philosophy of language
Progress in philosophy of language
Two workshops are planned: on Philosophy of Argumentation (organized by Martin Hinton, University of Lodz) and on Games, Language, and Philosophy (organized by Paweł Grabarczyk, IT University of Copenhagen).

Selected conference papers will be published in special issues of international journals and in a monographic volume in the series Studies in Philosophy of Language and Linguistics (https://www.peterlang.com/view/serial/SPLL ).
Abstracts of papers, in MS Word format, of max. 300 words (followed by 5-7 key terms) should be forwarded by e-mail to: philang2019@uni.lodz.pl.
New deadline for submission is January 10, 2019. Presentations should last maximum 30 minutes (including discussion and questions). Notification of acceptance will be sent by 1 March 2019. Further details (including information on the conference fee) will be provided in the second circular.
